How can I register DOMAINs ending in .ch, .com etc.

DOMAINs are assigned in each country by certain organizations, so-called registry operators. This task is carried out by SWITCH in Switzerland (.ch) and Liechtenstein (.li).

DOMAINs can usually not be registered directly with the registry, but must be obtained from a partner (registrar) – like switchplus.

switchplus offers about 500 different Top Level Domains (TLD) in the main categories country domains and generic domains.

Country domains

Country domains (Country Code or CC-TLD) are always two-digit and correspond to the 2-digit code according to ISO 3166 Since each country typically operates its own Regiostry and defines its own registration guidelines, unfortunately we cannot offer you all country domains.

Currently we can offer you the registration of about 100 country domains. In our shop you will find them sorted by continents.

The best known are certainly .ch for Switzerland and .li for Lichtenstein.
The offer also includes all neighbouring countries (.at,.de,.fr,.it ) as well as many European countries (for example: .at, .be, .cz, .dk, .es, .eu, .lu, .me, .nl, .pl, .pt, .ro, .se, .uk).

The following are worldwide the most searched for domain extensions

.ag, .cn, .co, .io, .ru, .sg, .tv, .uk, .us

Generic Domains

The generic top-level domains (gTLD) are divided into unsponsored (gTLD) and sponsored domain extensions (new gTLD).

Non-sponsored domains or simply generic domains are certainly the most important domain extensions on the Internet. These unsponsored domain extensions are under the direct control of ICANN.

These generic top-level domains (gTLD) are:
.biz,.com,.info,.name,.net,.org

Sponsored domains, also known as new top-level domains (New gTLDs), are all generic domains that will be gradually distributed and introduced from March 2013. The total of 1,930 applications submitted include, for example,.blog,.web,.shop or.swiss,.berlin,.vienna. About 300 of these new generic domain names are available at switchplus. The allocation of the new domains is coordinated by the Internet administration ICANN.
